Doom Eternal is a reboot sequel to the 2016 reboot of Doom. The game will be released on March 20, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. Two years after the 2016 Doom events, Earth was invaded by demonic forces. The Doom Slayer, having previously been transported to an unknown location, returns to Earth with a new arsenal of weapons to save the human race from annihilation.
Players once again take on the role of Doom Slayer, an ancient warrior who fights the demonic forces of Hell, from a first-person perspective. The game continues the predecessor's emphasis on push-forward combat, encouraging the player to aggressively attack enemies to acquire health, ammo and armor. The player has access to various firearms, such as the combat rifle, the super shotgun, the heavy cannon, the rocket launcher, the plasma rifle, the BFG 9000 and the ballista. Melee weapons, such as a chainsaw, the energy sword "Crucible Blade" and a retractable blade "Doomblade" can also be used. The blade of the arm offers the opportunity for a greater variety of quick and violent "glory-killing" executions, which always lose extra life. The Super Shotgun is now equipped with a "Meat Hook", which shoots the player towards an enemy, acting as a grappling hook in combat scenarios and in environmental navigation. The Doom Slayer armor now includes an equipment launcher with the ability to launch grenades and ice bombs, as well as a flamethrower that provides protection against fire-based attacks.
A new feature added is the ability to break into another player's game, in a system called "Invasion". Invading players can unite and spawn on a player's turn as enemies. The Doom Slayer moves faster than in the previous game and is now equipped with a shoulder cannon on the left, which can be used to fire grenades or a burst of flame. Operates in a cooldown. There is a greater focus on mobility in the game. The Doom Slayer gains a hook (via the Super Shotgun), the ability to perform small raises on the floor and swing from the sticks. Two boosters can be used at a time before having to recharge.
